Christ's ascension 1.0 the 'what' of the ascension "After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight." (Acts 1:9 NIV)
2.0 the 'why' of the ascension i) to be with us ... and that's why we rejoice
ii) to intercede for us ... and that's why we praise God (Hebrews 4:14; 7:24-25; 8:1-6; 9:11-15, 24-26; 10:19-22) "Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them." (Hebrews 7:25 NIV)
iii) to rule over us ... and that's why we worship him "... After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven." (Hebrews 1:3 NIV)
3.0 to be continued ... ... suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. "Men of Galilee," they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven." (Acts 1:10-11 NIV)
